Four Sundays of Baseball

Over the course of August, I have been to 4 baseball games. The big part is that they were all on Sundays. Which is when I got my idea. This could go on my blog as a big thing. And so, I present to you, Four Sundays of Baseball.

SUNDAY 1: Chatham Anglers vs Harwich Mariners (Cape cod league)

The Cape Cod League is a good fan experience if you have nothing on the calendar down the Cape. Game 3 of the quarterfinal round between the Chatham Anglers and the Harwich Mariners. The winner would take on the YD Red Sox in the semis. The Anglers would pull away late with a 3-1 victory over the East Champs.  Chatham would go on to lose to the eventual champion Red Sox. It’s always a blast going to see the stars of tomorrow today.

SUNDAY 2: Arizona Diamondbacks vs Red Sox

My friend Evan and I went down to Fenway to watch Rick Porcello and the Sox battle Arizona. Boston came out swinging. Mookie Betts hit 3 homers and Porcello would pick up the victory to stay unbeaten at Fenway. The Sox defeated the DBacks 16-2 to sweep the series.

SUNDAY 3: Brooklyn Cyclones vs Lowell Spinners (NYPL)

I love to come down to Lowell for any sort of sport. Whether it’s the River Hawks for hockey or the Spinners for Baseball. It was the Spinners for this day. The Spinners continued their dominance of the Brooklyn Cyclones with a 9-6 win. Lowell has been very hot as of late as they have won their last 5 games. I think that my dad had a lot of fun just coming back to see the Spinners.

SUNDAY 4: Royals vs Red Sox

The Sunday night game was pretty intense until that explosive 8-run 6th inning for Kansas City. The Royals trailed Boston 4-2 until the 6th when they came out swinging. a bases clearing triple defeated the Sox and sunk them. It was pretty exciting to see a Sunday Night Baseball game.

I will be in attendance with my brother Charlie at tomorrows game when the Red Sox take on the Rays of Tampa Bay.

MLB Monthly Review: July

July was the All Star game. The AL topped the NL 4-2 and Giancarlo Stanton took home the Home Run Derby crown. Anyway, let’s see how my 3 teams did in the month of July, starting with the Boston Red Sox

Boston went 15-10 in July, but have taken a rough start in August. The Red Sox have lost 6 out of 10 to start the month of August, including  losing 2 out of three to the division rival New York Yankees. The Sox are now 3 games back of Toronto and 2.5 games back of Baltimore.

Next Series: Red Sox vs Arizona Diamondbacks. I’ll be in attendance on Sunday afternoon.

Chicago Cubs

How hot have the Cubs been? They went 12-13 in the month of July and are riding a 10 game winning streak with a sweep of Miami, Oakland, and the Angels. The Cubbies are on a hot streak and will not cool down so we’ll see how far they go on this winning streak.

Current Series: Cubs vs St. Louis Cardinals

Minnesota Twins

The Twins had a good month of July going 15 and 11. The Twins even gave the Indians a mashing in August. In the first three games of August, the Twins outscored the Indians 35-16 thanks to rookie Max Kepler. Don’t count the Twins out yet, they may be making a push for the playoffs.

Next Series: Twins vs Kansas City Royals.

Launch vs Cannons

The final game of the MLL season went good for the Cannons. Boston battled last place Florida in a do or die situation and here’s how the game went down.

CANNONS 11 Florida Launch 10

The Cannons squeaked out a come from behind victory to spoil Casey Powell’s last game as an MLL player. Boston did trail 9-6 going into the 4th quarter. But a 5 goal fourth quarter proved helpful for Boston. A 2 pointer by Justin Turri put the game to a 2 goal deficit. 3 more Cannons put some goals on the board, including the GWG from Kevin Buchanan.

Now despite the victory, Boston would need help from the rival Lizards to make the playoffs. The Lizards however fell to the Ohio Machine 22-13 and Boston would be denied a playoff position.

NICE JOB BOSTON! LET’S DO IT AGAIN SOON!
